With over 450 student organizations at The University of Iowa, it is helpful to recognize what type of organization you are interested in joining. Our search feature allows you to find one that meets your interests as well as provides the contact information for the organization.
Student organizations are responsible for the majority of the programs and events held on campus each year. Each organization offers students unique opportunities that will help you stay connected to campus and help you reach your ultimate goal…graduation!
Ready to start an organization? Sign into OrgSync and complete your personal profile! Once you've signed in, view the list of organizations, and select the "Register New Organization" tab to fill out the required information.
It is important to follow all constitutional guidelines and requirements for becoming a student organization. These guidelines can be found by clicking on the "Resources" tab above. Then, click on the "Files" button under the Starting a New Organization section. There are two mandatory statements that must be included in your constitution before an organization is even considered by the Student Organization Review Committee.
Also, when starting a student organization you must have at least five members and three of the five members must be students.
New student organization requests are typically reviewed each Wednesday by the Student Organization Review Committee (SORC). They must be submitted a week in advance to begin the recognition process at the following week's meeting.
Student leaders, organizations, and advisors will be able to find accurate information regarding policies, procedures, services, and resources using this website.
